Justen Hyland

Pastor, Worship

Springboro

A native of the Dayton area, Justen is a graduate of Liberty University in Virginia with a Worship & Music Studies degree. He joined Fairhaven’s staff in 2016 as the Pastor of Ministry Arts for the Springboro Campus.

Justen met his wife Esther, a worship leader and private voice/piano teacher, on their first day of college in music theory class. They were married in 2013 and have two daughters. They are also foster parents, following their passion to serve the most vulnerable in our community.

When they’re not leading worship, you’ll find Justen & Esther hiking, walking around the Cincinnati Zoo or Kings Island with the kiddos, cooking up new recipes at home, or heading to Disney World with the kids!

Why do you work at Fairhaven?

I love Fairhaven’s focus on worship, community and serving, and I am thrilled to be part of this church. It is an honor to serve in a church that I’d be part of even if I wasn’t on staff. Esther and I love the way God is growing us through our campus, our small group and Pastor David’s teaching.

Your faith

I’m thankful to have been raised in a home where I was taught to follow Jesus and was part of a local church here in Dayton. I’m amazed by the grace, freedom from sin and wisdom Jesus gives us and I love helping others find hope in Christ. I believe that the local church, the bride of Christ, is God’s plan to bring hope to the world, so I’m committed to serving the church so our communities can find hope in Jesus.

Bible verse

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” Romans 5:8-11
