Dave earned a bachelor’s degree in religion from Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas. Prior to his ministry at Fairhaven, he spent nearly 40 years in pastoral ministry, including 37 years serving in a lead pastor’s role. Dave attended Fairhaven with his family for about two years before joining our staff in 2014.

He leads the Pastoral Care Ministry, which focuses on our Marriage Ministry, Memorial Services, Stephen Ministry, Sonshiner’s, Visitations, Benevolence, Baptisms, and encouraging those experiencing personal concerns.

Dave and his wife Janice married in 1973, and have two adult daughters and three grandchildren. He enjoys spending time walking the neighborhood, hiking, camping, completing home projects and spending time with his daughters & their families on vacations and for holiday gatherings.

Why do you work at Fairhaven?

I came to Fairhaven a few months after resigning my previous pastoral position and have continued to attend ever since. Healing and encouragement took place in my personal life, and I experienced the presence of God in the worship and the messages. My family and I also experienced encouragement from many of the people we came to know in various groups at Fairhaven. As time progressed, I felt a strong desire to unite with the ministries that God had blessed Fairhaven with, and I was eventually given the opportunity to consider being part of the pastoral staff in the area of small groups. I am thankful for the opportunity to be part of a church that has a passion to see people being transformed into Christ likeness.

Your faith

At the age of five, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior. I am not only thankful for saving grace, but the keeping grace of Christ throughout many years. In my youth, I also came to a place where I completely surrendered my life and allowed the Holy Spirit to take control. I felt a definite call to the pastoral ministry and have continued to fulfill that call throughout my life. There are many times I know that God’s protective hand has been upon my personal spiritual journey and ministry. I desire to serve Christ in whatever place he has in mind for me.
