We recently donated $10,000 to assist St. Vincent de Paul in providing furniture for 100 families that will be delivered before Christmas.

The Long-Term Disaster Recovery Group has been formed to coordinate the expected two-plus years needed to help the survivors of the Memorial Day tornadoes rebuild. The group consists of more than a dozen area non-profits, along with the University of Dayton and the Dayton Foundation. The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) Ohio Valley District also has a representative that will be part of the group’s weekly meetings.

The Living City Project represents the faith-based community at the Long-Term Disaster Recovery Group meetings and will keep their website updated with volunteer opportunities, resource links for tornado survivors, as well as information about special projects that are happening - like the School Drive. Continue to look to them for the latest, most up-to-date information.

Fairhaven will continue to provide financial support to our congregants directly impacted by the tornadoes, as well as support to area agencies assisting other victims’ with housing deposits, rent, school supplies and other needs.

Fairhaven, along with other area faith-based organizations, non-profit organizations, school district representatives and city officials continue to meet regularly to discuss next steps. Here are some updates on the best ways for you to help:

Declare – Declare has accepted the task of compiling the information and putting it on their Living City Project website making it easy for the public to see how they can get involved and continue to help as the needs change.

- St Vincent DePaul Dayton – Many displaced families need furniture in their new place of residence, and St Vincent DePaul’s Community Center is in need of donations of furniture (chairs, tables, sofas, lamps, etc.). At this time, donors are responsible to get donations to the center at 945 S. Edwin C. Moses Blvd, Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-4:45 PM or Saturday 9:30 AM-3:40 PM.
- Fairhaven – We continue to provide financial support to our congregants directly impacted by the tornadoes, as well as support to area agencies assisting other victims’ with housing deposits, rent and school backpacks, supplies and uniforms.

SERVE
1.The Family Assistance Center (FAC) is a one-stop resource for tornado victims with representatives for area support agencies, such as the Red Cross, FEMA and CAP, in one place to make the process of getting assistance easier for those in need. They are in need of volunteers to greet and take registrations through Friday, June 28 from 9:30 AM-1:00 PM or 1:00-5:00 PM. FAC is located at 1500 Shiloh Springs Road, Trotwood, OH 45426. 2. Miami Valley Community Action Partnership (CAP) needs help moving people from shelters to housing and canvasing neighborhoods with flyers to inform victims of what they offer. They're helping people with rent, DP&L/Vectren bills, auto repairs, finding housing, appliances, beds, etc. An online registration platform is coming soon. For now, call 937-341-5000 or visit their website for more information.
3. We’ve recently supported Declare’s worship events throughout the Dayton area. Now, they’re assisting St. Vincent's with furniture donations and deliveries, and helping to fill urgent volunteer needs for area partners. Visit their website for more information and to sign up to help.

They will accept all donations of gently used and new furniture, as well as appliances. Donations can be dropped off at their warehouse at 945 S. Edwin C. Moses Blvd. (next to Job Center), Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM. Volunteers will be needed to help with pickup and delivery of these items. We'll have more information about that soon.

The Montgomery County Volunteer Reception Center, listed in a previous update, is no longer functioning, and the Montgomery County Ohio Relief Update is not being updated anymore. We are working to learn more about the effort to centralize work teams and schedules so organizations aren’t duplicating efforts.

Samaritan's Purse has wrapped up their operations in Vandalia, but there are still many great organizations out there to partner with. Find one that fits your skill set and schedule.

2. The Christian Life Center is actively assisting with cleanup. Visit their website to learn how you can get involved.
3. Montgomery County Volunteer Reception Center is now open at Sinclair Community College, (Building 20, 220 South Edwin C Moses, enter off 5th St). Volunteers can register and be matched to organizations with specific volunteer needs. Open seven days a week, 8:00 AM-6:00 PM. Please bring picture ID. All types of assistance are needed: licensed professionals in skilled trades, medical and veterinary fields, as well as individuals and companies who own and operate equipment (everything from chainsaws to heavy equipment). - Items for victims. We're taking a break from accepting donations to allow the distribution centers time to sort and shift the overwhelming amount of goods they've received. In the meantime, you can take donations to the new Sinclair Community College campus in Centerville at 5800 Clyo Rd. They're accepting toiletries, laundry detergent, bleach, dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, diapers (size 4,5 & 6), pet foods and applesauce pouches.

Thank you for your overwhelming generosity in the tornado relief efforts. We're making a difference! The needs of our partners and the people we’re serving are changing daily. The latest update is below.
Moving forward, we will post smaller, more frequent updates on our website and Facebook pages and send out bigger, more significant updates via email. If you want to contribute in any way, we recommend checking those places first for up-to-date information.
SERVE
- Samaritan’s Purse will operate out of Living Word Church in Vandalia for the rest of this month. There are many ways to serve there, but they especially need help with data entry and answering phones. After you go through orientation once, you can go back and help anytime. - St. Vincent DePaul Dayton, a partner of ours in other efforts, needs help sorting donations. Sign up to serve on weekdays at their warehouse on Edwin C. Moses Blvd, or on weekends at their Apple Street facility.
- Holy Temple Church of God, one of our partners in Trotwood, could use some help, but the opportunities and schedule change daily. Call ahead at 937-715-9102 or 937-993-7932.
- Be Hope Church is doing a great job with Beavercreek-specific relief. You can give them a call at 937-426-3926.
The churches and relief organizations closer to the destruction are doing a great job on the front lines of the relief effort, and it's an honor to work together with them as the body of Christ.

- Items for victims. Currently, our partners need baby food, diapers, diaper wipes and baby formula. Water is no longer needed, and they're overwhelmed with everything else right now.
- Items for Samaritan’s Purse volunteers. You can donate produce for making salads, peanut butter, jelly, bread and homemade baked goods.

We’re listening to our partners and collecting the items that serve them best. You can bring these items to any of our locations. If you have other items to donate, there are a number of other organizations collecting items to serve people with different needs. (A great option near our Centerville Campus is the new Sinclair Community College campus at 5800 Clyo Road.)
